Students applying to Health Information Management must meet the following requirements:

The basic eligibility criteria for PG diploma in HIM is Graduation in any discipline or equivalent bachelor degree from a recognized university

The curriculum is developed based on the model adopted by Ministry of Health, India, as indicated in the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), recommendations of American Health Information Management (AHIMA, United States) and American Academy of Professional Coders (United States).

The curriculum prepares the students to achieve proficiency to work in Indian Health Information System apart from the Global workplace

In this challenging two-year diploma program, you will be a diploma holder in HIM equipped with very marketable skills in the health information management sector. Some of those skills will include expertise in the following areas:

Data quality
Data collection
Medical Coding
Record /systems management
Privacy, confidentiality and security of health information
Transitioning to the electronic health record

WORK EXPERIENCE

The program includes a strong practical component.

Students will participate in two work placement experiences, a total of eight weeks in all during the course. Students spend two weeks in a workplace setting in semester two, and four weeks in a workplace setting in semester four.
